Service provided by a bank for the safekeeping of assets. There are two types of custody services: one where the client is responsible and the contents are deposited in safe deposit boxes, with the bank not liable for any loss of the contents – which it is unaware of – charging a fixed fee based on the box volume; and two, where the bank is responsible and registers the assets, takes care of the collection of dividends, sale of rights, and similar operations, charging a percentage of the deposited value.
